Hey there! I’m Chris, Philly game dev and programmer. I want to share my development process, programming journey and be as open a person as I can for anyone out there. My goal is that I can take everything I’ve learned and put it out there for your benefit! Join me in my indie game dev journey!
I Graduated from Drexel in 2020, with a BS in Computer Science, a concentration in Game Development and a minor in mathematics. During my time at Drexel, I joined EGS (Entrepreneurial Game Studios), started working with Gossamer Games. Together we released our first commercial game, Sole, in October of 2019. It was a finalist for the IGF “Best Student Game” award in 2019, and launched later that year on Xbox One and Steam in October of 2019.
During my Senior year, 2019-2020, I started working on my Senior Project with Sungrazer Studio. Together we launched Resilience in 2020, it’s a civically-engaged sci-fi city-builder that deals with the refugee crisis. It won “Best Student Game” at Games For Change 2020.
After graduating, I began working on grant projects with EGS and Gossamer Games, as well as in-house projects, as well as personal projects. In 2020 we began working on Code Tycoon, a client project for a game to be developed for Okta. It’s development took place over 7 months and launched in May of 2021. Also during this time, we worked on the city builder SIM-PHL, and the AR narrative game Story Seek. And beginning of January 2021 we began working on our next in-house production Howloween Hero.
Howloween Hero is not only our second in-house production, but it’s the first game that we developed using the Unreal Engine. Learning to use this engine as well as Unity has helped our team immensely. As we have diversified our skills and now have another tool in the toolbox when starting up a new project.
During all of this, I have been building my online presence, by writing blog posts on my process and creating social-media content. I aim to write more research-based writing as well as more formal tutorial content. I hope that you find the time with me to be valuable as you join me on this journey!
